Sins of a Solar Empire Beta
Starting today, the third beta phase of Sins of a Solar Empire will go live, introducing multiplayer functionality and a whole host of new features to the RT4X space-strategy game. Those who wish to enter the beta can do so by pre-ordering the game before September 26 for immediate access.
The game itself is set for release during February 2008. It puts players in charge of one of three different factions as they explore star systems, expand their empire, exploit conquered planets and exterminate rivals, among other things.

[...] Finding Sin Being the Homeworld fan I am, it’s kind of surprising that I didn’t see this coming sooner. I barely gave Genesis Rising a second glance after stale reviews. I shrugged off SupCom, installed and uninstalled the AoE 3 demos and, though I was initially pretty excited, I haven’t really tried to get my hands on Universe at War. The truth is, I’m not really out looking for RTS’s. Though I’ve derived hours and hours of multiplayer entertainment from Starcraft, Warcraft III, and Age of Empires, I never really saw an RTS as part of my future. I could say that this is because of their inherent limited replayability. I’m in a very persistent, developmental stage of my gaming life. (That is, when I’m not in the mood for CoD4’s peculiar magic.) So, suffice it to say, Sins of a Solar Empire slipped under my radar. This lovely image courtesy of DigitalBattle.com [...]
