In disappointing news, it has recently been unearthed that the DualShock 3 controller will feature the same technology as its PS2 brethren.

It was confirmed by SCEA’s Kimberly Otzman, who flat out stated that the “rumble feature on the DualShock 3 is the same as DualShock 2.” This is disappointing as Immersion, the company which sued Sony for rumble technology, claims its TouchSense tech can “match the realism expected of next-generation high-definition graphics and high-fidelity sound.” The company also claims that its technology is compatible with the PlayStation 3’s Sixaxis; it is also backwards compatible with previous rumble support.

The boring-old DualShock 3 will ship in Japan this Fall, with North American and European gamers getting it in Spring 2008.
