No UT3 Cross Platform Play
Epic frontman Mark Rein spoke to some Unreal community members via IRC, talking about various aspects of the game, including cross platform play between the PC and PS3 versions. Sadly, he revealed that it was simply too complicated getting PC and PS3 versions to play together. Rein said:
The biggest challenge in doing cross platform play is synchronizing the builds such that the build on the PC is 100% compatible with the build on the PS3.
Unfortunately (or fortunately) when you [develop] games on console you have a lengthy certification process to go through each time you release anything new.
It’s as simple as that. One can’t update console games as easily as releasing a PC patch, so the challenge is very clear. On the other hand, as Rein mentions, console patches are generally of better quality because of the very same certification process. There is no release date set for UT3, only that the “target” is November. Xbox 360 will be getting the game early next year.

The main problem is that PC n00b player will own a console player. Even with console player aim on. Mouse it too better. And second of all, Pc UT3 will have way to many stuff than console UT3. If you look at ut2004, over 20GB of maps and thousands of mods. Console will never have that.
Overall PC version always dominates console game because of community that supply the stuff (mods, maps, skins, sounds,…)

yeah, I don’t completely agree with you but yeah it’s hard as hell for PC vs Console. It’s not fair at all, I would pwn so many people with more sens and what not. Nothing can touch the keyboard and mice.

I just don’t agree with that … I am sure there are many console gamers that were looking forward to proving the myth incorrect once and for all. I bet they aren’t pleased by this. But anyway I never believed it was going to happen … it seems to me too complex to do at this time until better netcode is developed possibly.

You can always hook up a keyboard and mouse to your PS3

Anuban, I do. I don’t believe a retarded noob can always win, but someone like going against ps3/xbox 360 users. I have the upper hand, I’ve been in many leagues. I made a lot of money on prizefight.com, also Mouse is over the gamepad any day. It’s not fair, i’ve played both machines (consoles vs pc).
You go against pc users and you’re new go fish. It’s kinda hard to get into, unless you’re like me that has cross-played from the beginning many people will suck right away. I remember playing Rainbow Six Vegas, it was kinda retarded. Body shots never registered, it wasn’t part of the game. Head shots and nades were the only way to kill people, then I bought CS and had a blast because I could light up a body and kill someone.
Then in 04, source was in beta form. I bought it, and loved it. Then I saw CZ in my game list, it was just like the xbox version. The whole entire game was a different style of gameplay and a different world on resolutions.

Doom 3 looked so much better then the xbox version. Same with Halo 2,Half life 2 and any other port. Atm the xbox 360/ps3 and pc look identical. But, in 2 more months those consoles will be outdated.
Console gamers are thinking, we have 1080p! Well in 2 months, pc gamers will have 2560×1600, which 1080p is 1900×1200!! I’m not a fanboy, I have all the consoles ever made and a killer pc. I don’t see this cross play ever happening, it’s to hard. The pc is “TECHNICALLY” out dated every 6 months.
Honstly, this isn’t true. The 7800 came out in 04, it’s been a great card for 3 nows. It played any game I threw at it, if you need help I can buy you a monster pc for 800-1200 that’ll crush crysis and ut3!
