Blue Dragon Headed To Nintendo DS

One more Xbox 360 title seems to be joining the ranks of underselling on the platform, and being ported over to the DS to make a little cash flow. Unlike some of the other Rare titles, which are first party, Mistwalker is a third party publisher, but is taking the liberty of moving the once 360 exclusive over to a DS release. The reasoning is pretty straightforward. Blue Dragon was a game purely created to move units over in Japan, and it worked to an extent. Unfortunately, because of the appeal of J-RPG’s in North America where the 360 is more adopted, the game continued to not move copies. Blue Dragon should find better sales on the Nintendo DS which has outsold the 360 in Japan more than a few times over.

The real concern is how the multi-DVD game will hold up on the DS. The obvious things that will suffer is graphically, and perhaps somewhat content wise. But gamers will also be suffering monetarily as the game is expected to retail at 5980 yen (about $53). We will soon see if Blue Dragon can truly find a market to recoup, or if the money conscious DS owners will take interest.
