Bungie Splitting With Microsoft?
What would a massive Halo 3 launch be without a few rumors here and there? Game e-zine 8BitJoystick, which we’ve never heard of before, claims to have information suggesting that Bungie is splitting up with Microsoft, apparently they’re tired of MS controlling everything. According to the “source”, Bungie wants to work on new games, and not be bound to the Xbox platform, while MS wants more Halo games (who can blame them, really?).
Neither Microsoft nor Bungie have responded to the rumors. Bungie was acquired by Microsoft in 2000, and has been doing nothing but Halo games ever since.

Thats real funny since Microsoft actually OWNS Bungie…
…how does that work?

Maybe the entire Bungie staff quit their jobs…

lol, james why quit your jobs if you sold millions of copies and will sell millions more. Someone showed me the trailer of the very first halo, it was 3rd person and MC looked like crap. He ran weird, it had dinosaurs in the game too. I think MS saved this company tell you the truth, with all of the halo fanboys out there. It reminds me of WOW, milk everything you can from the series to keep making money.
I agree with both of you, bongo mostly. How can a company split when MS owns them? That was my first guess too, it’s probably just a PS fanboy starting rumors. Eitherway, bungie will make a shit load of money. There games were great in the early 90’s too.

Bungie doesn’t “Make any money”, Microsoft does. Bungie are simply employees of Microsoft.
I can imagine the devs at Bungie to want to work on something new, something where they have the creative control. But it’s impossible, since MS wants the keep the halo money making machine rolling.
It’s the age old “artist” vs. “financier”.
