Nintendo Spending 17 Million On Wii Jackets

We reported earlier today about the free Wii Remote jacket offer courteousy of Nintendo. Undoubtedly a great little offer, which is sure to leave third party producers of Wii Remote related accessories in tears. But just how much Nintendo is planning on spending to run the free program is slightly shocking. With an estimated 20 million jackets to go out, it is expected Nintendo will spend roughly 17 million dollars to run the program. It’s only a minor drop in the bucket for the highly profitable company, and it’s truly hard to complain about freebies, but with that amount of cash, could it have been better spent?
