Final Crysis System Requirements
October 9th, 2007 by Rajiv Ashrafi in FPS, PC
Following up on the last post, EA and Crytek have finally unveiled the final system specs required to run Crysis. Let’s just say most of us won’t be able to even play it on medium settings:
Minimum System Requirements
OS ? Windows XP or Windows Vista
Processor ? 2.8 GHz or faster (XP) or 3.2 GHz or faster* (Vista)
Memory ? 1.0 GB RAM (XP) or 1.5 GB RAM (Vista)
Video Card ?256 MB**
Hard Drive ? 12GB
Sound Card ? DirectX 9.0c compatible* Supported Processors: Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (3.2 GHz for Vista) or faster, Intel Core 2.0 GHz (2.2 GHz for Vista) or faster, AMD Athlon 2800+ (3200+ for Vista) or faster.
** Supported chipsets: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT or greater; ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (Radeon X800 Pro for Vista) or greater. Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported. Integrated chipsets are not supported. Updates to your video and sound card drivers may be required.
Recommended System Requirements
OS ? Windows XP / Vista
Processor ? Intel Core 2 DUO @ 2.2GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+

That’s the only advantage of console gaming over the PC: instead of shelling out hundreds of dollars over time for upgraded video cards, more ram and peripherals, you just plunk down a one-time payment for a console that’ll play every single game that comes out in its lifetime.

Yeah but consoles get ugly over time. Either way, I have all the 360 titles and wii titles. I still like the pc more for FPS, I understand what you’re saying. But, PC is a different world, if you can afford it. If you think about many people can afford a good gaming pc, you can get a 8800 for 250, processor 100,ram 100 )2( gb sticks ddr2,mobo(100),PSU 50,hdd 80.
You just have to buy at the right time. If you need help, ask me. I’m in IT, so yeah. Hit me with questions and I’ll do my best to answer them.

I don’t know why you think so many can afford to constantly upgrade their computers with so many other expenses that are part of most people’s lives … it is not that easy to keep up with the games and also the upgrades while taking care of bills, the family, food, mortgage/rent … but I do agree that if you afford it PC gaming is great. But these reqs for Crysis are pretty high … now I know I will have to get a GTX card so I can run this game on max. A 8800 GTS will not cut it … wow.
I feel sorry for the people who cannot afford to upgrade and play on low settings .. they are going to really miss out on a great experience. There is no way I would not play this game in DX10. This is the first game that really shows off the future promise of DX10 so distinctly. I guess the Wickerman and I will be battling out that First prize for Crysis or UT3 (we all I would rather have UT3 anyway).

Actually, PC isn’t that hard to game on. People think you need all of this stuff, look at the new intel chips compared to the core 2 duos, the new 45nm are so much cheaper and so much faster. It’s all about the right time when buying. You can build an elite system for 700-1000 bucks, just crysis (pc only game is different)
Look at Ut3, it will max out on a 7800 gt,1-2 gbs of ram,2.2 dual core…. this was the top of the line 2-3 years ago, only pc only games really need outstanding settings. Most games are MP now, so they have to make them a certain way so all 3 can run them now. You should max out crysis on dx9 Ana, maybe high on dx10

these system Requirements are ridiculous lol. i bought an XFX Geforce 8600GT to run crysis on high, (not max) now im worried that it wont even run on medium, with my system:
Amd 64 3200+
1gb ram (soon to be 2gb)
XFX nVidia Geforce 8600GT 512mb
300gb hard drive
i know the card is top end of system req, but the processor is a little low =S
October 31st, 2007 at 5:13 am
tharpe, don’t worry, cuz i’m telling you know
it wont run on medium, it might not even run properly on low since the DX10 performance of the 8600 series is somewhat lackluster.
in case this cheers you up, i just plunked down 250 euros (which is more than your US dollar equivalent) for a 8800gts which doesn’t even run crysis on medium with a 9600 3dMark score. It runs, but stutters constantly and the framerate is barely, JUST barely acceptable.
plus on medium the draw distance is so short that the rocks you’re stepping on look AMAZING, but the ones that are just 20 yards away look completely blurry and well, like crap.
imagine how PISSED i am.

my e6750 overclocked to 3.6 2gb ram 900mhz 3-4-3-9 ( 10gbps ftw) and a 8600gt 256gddr3 o/c to 650core and 820(1640) memory runs at high with 50-80fps and 20-40 on ultra both dx9 on xp pro 64bit
top of the range computer = midend componants + hommade watercooling ( random pump/ powerstearing rad) midrange waterblock with a tec and my graphics cooler modded to touch memory and fit a waterblock
all for £450 and it runs like £1200 computer (must have LOTS of engerneering and overclocking knowlage) ( but no good at spelling)

Crysis is indeed the toughest game to date, but the problem is not the video card. The problem is all other specs. You can easily run Crysis with a well balance pc. I notice some are using single-core processors. That’s the first mistake. The most powerful thing in your system should be your processor, the brain of your pc. In order to play the latest games, you can’t just upgrade your video card or add more ram. There are many variables to consider. The first is that, the processor effects the performance of all other components. For example the 8600 or 8800 won’t run at full potential if the processor is to feeble in strength. A stronger cpu will allow all other components to concentrate on the specific task. While many are worried about visuals there are many other variables to consider, such as, physics, ai, sound, etc. Besides visuals, these mechanics have a big effect on the cpu as well. However instead of spending more money on more components to assist with these obstacles, one should probably concentrate funds on a processor capable of running all these mechanics, leaving the video card to take the slack off the processor. In fact, that’s all the gpu actually does is take the burden of visuals off the processor. Remember, as the brain controls everything in the body, the cpu controls every component and application. A stronger video card should assist the cpu, not the other way around.

can someone let me know exactly what i need to do to be able to play crysis. here’s my setup.
2.4 quadcore intel chip
3Gb ram
8500gt 512 geforce nvidia card
vista 32 bit
also, can someone direct me to a site that instructs how to overclock. thanks
December 30th, 2007 at 9:24 pm
tony it will help if you can overclock your processor a little and make shure your memory is running in dual channel with three gigs I doubt you are. Well you are but your not. Up grade your video card to either 8800GTX or Two 3870’s in X Fire. And most importantly make shure you have a MORE than adaquate power supply at least a 650 with this set up. the biggest mistake with most inexperianced builders is that they don’t feed the beast with more power after upgrading. Hope this helps. overclocking depends on the mobo you have. If you bought your computer in a store or online from dell or gateway then your not going to be able to overclock. Just google how to overclock and you will find endless post on how to tweak your system.
MY SPECS:
Q6600 BO Stepping @ 3ghz with 1333fsb
intel 975xbx2
2 gigs of ddr2 800 running at 1000
3 raptor HD’s in raid 0
1 500gb storage drive
2x 3870’s in X Fire
thermaltake 850 watt power supply

I got Crysis when it first came out and on my alienware with AMD FX 57, 7950 gx2 xxx edition ,2 gigs it was unplayable on my 24 inch dell. I have just ordered today from cyberpower a new system with QX9650 overclocked to over 4 ghz ,2 x evga 8800 gtx overclocked, 4 gigs ocz sli memory ,2 x 500gb hard drives in raid0 and evga nforce 780i sli motherboard. Do you think the game will run on max settings on 24inch screen at 1900 x 1200 ?
January 8th, 2008 at 10:31 am
^id say it would run at 35-40 fps, but i doubt it could handle even that.

I have had trouble getting on to any servers online for a long time, when i try to access a server, a message reads “server authentication failed (3)” or version mismatch…… I havn’t got a clue what to do.
February 5th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
hmm, i think crysis is a amazeing game on my system it runs crystal clear just when im playing multieplayer when i try and exit a server it crashed even when im on medium or high. but i can play on a server on very high without trouble along with the games its just exiting when it freezes up and crashes eventually but im working on fixing that. just incase you want to no what you need to run it on very high i have:
processor: intel(R) core(TM)2 quad CPU Q6600 at 2.40GHz, 2.40GHz
memory (RAM): 3069 MB
32-bit operating system
rating: 5.3 (need atleast 5 to play crysis on max)
on air cooling.
nvidia 8800 GTX G force game card.
I hope that helps you no what you need to run it on very high with a very high frame rate (my score is 11147 on air soon to get watercooling)

I got a ASUS CROSSHAIR nForce 590 SLI Motherboard running AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 6400+ 3.2Ghz and 2Ghz FSB CPU(Black Ver.). with the Nvidia 8800GT, 4 160GB sata raid hard drives sata1 mode. 4GB DDR2 800mhz 6.4mbps memory.
Still will etting all the parts together. I tryed to make the a well balanced gaming PC. I’m hopping I can run this game at max settings. if not, then I’ll get a 2nd Nvidia 8800GT card and run it in SLI .
What do you think? will with work ok?

You may want to consider upgrading (or degrading) your video card for a 8800gts or 8800gtx, the 8800gts seems to be able to out-preform the 9600gt in every way. There’s a handful of forums/benchmarks out there that agree.
Also, go for the 512mb version, NOT the 640mb, as it is older.
