SCEE: 40GB PS3 to be Only Model
October 9th, 2007 by Rajiv Ashrafi in Business, PlayStation 3
Having launched a new 40GB model of the PS3 in Europe, and a major price cut, SCEE explained its decisions to MCV UK. “40GB machine represents all the power of PS3,” said the company. They also revealed that it will be the only model available once the 60GB stock runs out.
As for the gimped features, SCEE believes that it can all be gained back by adding memory card readers, USB hubs, or bigger external or internal hard drives. All valid points, but what about backwards compatibility? “The only functionality that is being removed is backwards compatibility - and this is because we believe this less important now than when we launched - as there will be 65 PS3 games available by Christmas.”

They should give full support to backwards compatibility, I might actually buy a 40gb if they did.

My 360 just died today so I am looking for good PS3 games…so far I’m not having any luck. Guess I will have to play Super Rub A Dub for the next 4 weeks or play WOW again.
