Maybe they are just trying to make the 360 last longer or seem appealing longer while they make a new system. I think its good to have one that lasts a long time, we will probably hear about the PS2 for a long time still. Past 2010... more than likely.
But when the price of the 360 goes down that means that they can use more money on the newer console. Like developing their motion sensing technology of their own.

@2, 3: I think that's why they named it Jasper, because by the time it actually hits the market, it will be antequated.

Yeah, it is late, considering that ATI will release 65nm and even 55nm chips later this year.

It's good news but wtf at the same time. Why in 08? the console will be 3 years old by then, well 3.5 years old. The console came out in 05, the xbox 1 came out in 01, do you see where I'm going with this? The average console last to 4-5 years, I just wish they did this sooner.

[...] Stephany wrote an interesting post today onHere’s a quick excerptThe Xbox 360 recently got it very hot CPU down to cooler levels with a 65nm upgrade called “Falcon”. Now plans have been revealed that the graphics chip, called “Xenos” from ATI, will also be shrunk to 65nm (from 90nm) next year. … [...]
