After Sony introduced a price cut in the UK, accompanied by yet another SKU, sales of the system have risen 178% last week. That’s the biggest sales week the PS3 has had since launch last year. The top seller was, unexpectedly, the DS, followed by the Wii, the PS3, and the Xbox 360 taking the fourth spot.
Last week Sony introduced a new stripped down 40 GB model for 299 GBP, simultaneously cutting the price of the current 60 GB model to 349 GBP. The 40 GB model is expected to arrive in North America next month.
