GTA 4 Getting 16-player Multiplayer Action?

A rumor is currently circulating the net about Grand Theft Auto 4 supporting up to 16 players in online multiplayer. It’s no surprise that GTA 4 will feature multiplayer - Rockstar revealed that news a long time ago, but didn’t reveal much else.

Canadian game site GamingExcellence, who attended the PlayStation Holiday Preview Event, were told by a Rockstar rep that they were aiming at supporting “up to 16 players online” for GTA 4. Rockstar commented on the rumor with the usual “no comment” line. We’ll have to wait and see, as GTA 4 is scheduled for release in Q2 2008.
