EA Wants One Gaming Platform

And the award for the most pathetic comment of the week goes to… EA! EA’s head of international publishing Gerhard Florin says they want one “open” platform, instead one by Microsoft, one by Sony and one by Nintendo (plus PC and portables). You know why? Because EA wants to save money porting all those games from console to console. Thinking from EA’s usual business perspective, it makes sense, but thinking from a gamer’s perspective, especially one who appreciates innovation, it’s the worst thing that can happen.
It may be “complicated” with four major platforms, plus two handheld platforms, but that’s what makes it interesting, all these different consoles, each with their good and bad sides, which give us all these different games to play. Except EA of course, who port one game to everything possible.
