BioWare MMO Based On KOTOR?

There have been mummers of BioWare developing an MMO for a while now. This in itself is exciting, but what would be even more intriguing is if it were based on their hit Knights of the Old Republic series, and according to some rumors, it is. Someone close to BioWare has reportedly confirmed that BioWare is attempting to tackle a Star Wars MMO.

“A source close to BioWare confirmed to us today that the studio’s upcoming untitled massively-multiplayer online RPG will be centered around the Star Wars universe, specifically that of Knights of the Old Republic, which the developer released in 2003. The game garnered critical acclaim and spawned a less-popular sequel, released by Obsidian two years later.”

This isn’t even the first we’ve heard of a hint at the Knights of the Old Republic getting the MMO treatment This game also wouldn’t be the first Star Wars MMO either. Star Wars Galaxies already has claimed that title. Unfortunately Star Wars Galaxies died a virtual death after a “degrading” update that made the game feel like a much more shallow experience than before.
