Church Forgives Sony For Resistance

October 24th, 2007 by Will Prusik in FPS, News, PlayStation 3

After the BAFTAs ended with no awards going to Resistance: Fall Of Man, the Church of England officially forgave Sony for use of the Manchester Cathedral in the FPS. Previously officials from the COE had asked for an apology for setting a level of the PS3 game in their cathedral. While there was no legal basis for any wrongdoing on Sony’s part, the Dean of the Manchester Cathedral was upset that this showed a profound insensitivity towards the victims of gun violence in Manchester as well as a disrespect towards people of faith. He also attributes the failure of the game to garner any awards from BAFTA to the church’s request that Resistance be taken from the rolls of contestants due to their complaint. More likely however is that despite the generally good reviews the game got, it couldn’t compete with the other quality offerings this year.
