Sony’s Game Division Records Massive Loss
October 25th, 2007 by James Hyde in Business, News, PSP, PlayStation 3
Sony recently released their earnings report, which showed that their games division, which includes the PS3 and PSP, lost over $841 million, a doubling from last year’s $381 million loss. According to Sony, the lost is due to the fact that the PS3 is selling for less than it costs to manufacture the console, plus of course the recent price cuts.
However, it’s not all bad, as overall they had a profit of $787 million, a monumental improvement compared to last year, where they lost $182 million. Much of this is due to movies like Spider-man 3, which made hundreds of millions at the box office word wide.
