Possible Tribes Comeback

October 26th, 2007 Posted in Action, News, Online, PC by Will Prusik

Recently Garage Games- a well-known previously independent games company- announced they would be creating ‘InstantAction’, an online portal giving computer users access to web browser based games from a variety of studios. One of the games that will be launching with the site is ‘Cyclomite’ from Wideload Games. Focusing heavily on multiplayer action, a source somehow involved in the whole project has called it a ‘Tribes-like shooter‘. For younger gamers, Tribes was a revolutionary game at its inception in 1998, with heavy focus on multiplayer aspects and many features which have since become standard issue in games. Dynamix created Tribes and Tribes 2 before they were officially closed down in 2001 and many of their former employees are now the staff of Garage Games. The only word from Garage Games regarding this story is “no comment” which could either be a simple policy of not commenting on rumors or could be hinting at some truth behind this story.
