GeForce 8800GT Is Finally Here

After months of rumors and broken NDAs, NVIDIA today finally announced the GeForce 8800GT graphics card, which is now available in retail stores.
“When we introduced the GeForce 8 Series family, our most savvy customers and press demanded a product with 64 stream processors and a 256-bit memory interface to deliver more performance at the popular €199 to €259 price point. Today we decided to raise the bar and deliver GeForce 8800 GT with 112 stream processors, a fast 256-bit memory interface, and our second-generation PureVideo HD technology, giving our customers an incredible value proposition.” said Ujesh Desai, general manager of GeForce desktop GPUs at NVIDIA. “At this price point, gamers are getting more performance and features than ever before.”
If you’re looking for a card to play Crysis, then this is it. “GeForce 8800 GT is the perfect card for gamers that want to play Crysis,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek. “By bringing such high performance to the sub-€250 price segment, NVIDIA is allowing even more gamers to experience the full range of Crysis’s stunning visual effects at maxed-out resolutions.”
The card also features hardware-based playback of HD video content including HD-DVD and Blu-ray movies. It is also designed for the new PCI Express 2.0 bus standard and is backwards compatible with the original PCI Express standard.
It has already been benchmarked and reviewed by major hardware sites including AnadTech and The Tech Report, just to name a few.

Ordered mine this morning from newegg and it is crazy but now NOONE has them in stock … this was one of those if you snooze you lose moments in life. Anyway I got the EVGA one for the step up program so if in the next 3 months a better card comes out I can trade up and get the full value of this card … it should be here Thursday sometime … the same day I am upgrading the system to a Q6600. Yeah folks I am getting all ready for Gears, UT3, and Crysis just to start it all off. Only thing is I can’t play any games until I get my new gpu … I am using an old celeron PC until then just so I can stay connected to the net.

What did you do to your 8800gts 320mb?
October 30th, 2007 at 8:42 am
They’re already sold out… it’s been years since there was such a great price/performance on a card. Ordered mine today, should have it withing a week or two, just in time for Crysis, Gears, UT3, CoD4… boy this is going to be one fragfest of a November!

Wicker man I took my GTS 320 back to Circuit City for a full refund. I had used it for exaclty 30 days
and I got my money’s worth out of it. I was only getting it hold me over … and then I guess I got lucky the GTs came out when they did. So yeah the GT ended up costing me nothing and now I can register it for the step-up program and so have another 90 days to get an even better card should one be released.
And I just spoke to newegg today and they said both my 8800 GTs (yep I accidently bought two but I may actually keep the second one and do SLI ) would be in my hands tomorrow … so I am thinking for sure no later than Thursday.

Nice bro, nice bro. I bought 2 myself, I sold my gtx for 560 and bought 2. I dont feel I scammed anyone, I started the bid at 10 bucks. So, yeah lol I can’t wait. I bought a evga, so when the 8900 comes out the of this month im gonna get that!

Cool man … I am glad to hear you were able to get yours as well. My two should show up tomorrow but until I get a new PSU I won’t do SLI .. and am getting my new 850 Watt PSU on Thursday. I hadn’t heard anything about an 8900 but I do know they are going to redesign the GTS (and only offer it in the 640 cfg) and make it more powerful so that it regains the lead over the GT. When that will happen who knows but if it happens within 90 days I am all over it. $560 is still a decent price but I wouldn’t have paid that for a used GTX so you got fortunate with that imo. Good for you man!
Now we can roll together … we are going to be some of the only people who were lucky enough to get two on launch day and SLI them. Man Crysis is going to look great and UT3 as well! I can’t wait.
