Shortly after the BAFTA awards we have another round of UK gaming awards: The Golden Joysticks presented by Future Magazine. This year marked the 25th year of this awards ceremony and saw Gears Of War walking away with the title of ‘Ultimate Game Of The Year’. The FPS also took home the ‘Best Xbox Game’ category and the ‘Nuts All-Nighter Award’ which I would have expected to go to World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, although since the awards are based on votes, its likely WoW players couldn’t pull themselves away long enough to vote. Nintendo took home a few trophies to add to their bevvy from the BAFTA awards. They were named ‘Publisher of the Year’, took home the ‘Innovation’ category and Wii Sports won the ‘Family Game’ category. There’s much that could be said about who won every category and why– I’ll leave it up to you and simply conclude with the total rundown of the categories and winners.
