October 29th, 2007 Posted in Business, News, PC

Hoping to capitalize on the success of the coming Resident Evil games, Capcom and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan have announced that they are collaborating on a full-length computer generated film based on the franchise. Simply dubbed Biohazard: Degeneration, the film is being made for Japanese audiences and, as Capcom puts it, will feature “groundbreaking visual effects and a brand-new storyline.” It is planned for release during 2008.It is currently not clear whether it will follow the trilogy of live-action Resident Evil films that have done quite well in Hollywood. No other details were announced – Capcom is being tightlipped about plans for distribution – theatrical or straight-to-video – as well as the timeline for release in other territories.
