Nintendo Denies Wii Hard Drives, Again

Apparently it didn’t help when Nintendo denied releasing a hard drive for the Wii, as rumors piled up again, mostly because of something called “common sense”, or put otherwise, people are running out of storage. The built-in 512 MB of flash memory sounded okay when the Wii was properly unveiled over a year and a half ago, but with the success of the Virtual Console, 512 MB isn’t nearly enough. Sure, you can use external SD cards, which was Nintendo’s plan in the first place. But a bigger internal drive would certainly help, considering 2 GB of flash memory costs less than $10 for major buyers like Nintendo.
