Sony To Introduce New PS2 at $99 In 2008

November 2nd, 2007 Posted in Business, Featured, News, PlayStation 2, Rumor

The PS2 has sold over 120 million units worldwide, and is still selling great, which is why recent rumors suggest that Sony will introduce another PS2 in 2008, with a $99 price tag. According to CVG, the new model will have a built-in power supply and will be more compact than the current PS2 slim (I dunno how you can get more compact that that). Analysts, gamers and pretty much everyone else has expected Sony to drop the price from the current $130 to $99 for a long time now. Considering how well the system is selling, after seven years on the market, a price cut doesn’t appear to be needed, although it would certainly help sustain the sales, well into 2008.
