Jackson, Blomkamp Moving on from Halo

November 4th, 2007 Posted in Action, FPS, News, Xbox 360

Tired of waiting around for movie studios to meet Microsoft’s highly unreasonable demands, Peter Jackson and Neill Blomkamp, the tentative director for the Halo film, is collaborating on DISTRICT 9, a new original film penned by Blomkamp and Terri Tatchell, a big sci-fi writer.

Blomkamp is best known for his work on Alive in Joburg, a sci-fi short film that garnered the attention of Microsoft and, in particular, Bungie. It is not known whether District 9 is related to the events presented in his short film, but it is known that the film will be shot in South Africa.

Meanwhile, on the Peter Jackson front, there is word that the man is moving ahead with casting for his Tintin films, though it is still a rumor. He is currently working on The Lovely Bones. It appears Jackson may be out of the Halo picture for the moment – he’s already working on three films.
