Target Pulls All Manhunt 2 Versions

November 9th, 2007 Posted in Action, News, Wii

Confirming past rumors, MCV reports that Target has indeed removed all versions of Manhunt 2 from its North American stores, following news that it can be hacked to reveal the censored content.

When asked why they decided to remove the version, a Target spokesperson said: “Target strives to provide merchandise that will appeal to a wide variety of guests,” adding that they want “guests to be comfortable with the purchasing decision” at the store.

Manhunt 2 remains unclassified for release in the UK, effectively banning it there.

If this game was selling millions of copy like Halo 3 they would not have done this but the fact is that the hype machine failed to generate big sales for this game. There are millions of Wiis out there … this is proven by the fact that to date Wii sports has moved some 5.87 million units. However, Manhunt 2 only managed to move 58K its first week, hardly anything to get excited about. So this is not going to hurt Target at all … and they get to look more family friendly at the same time.
