Assassin’s Creed In Japan To Be Xbox Only
November 12th, 2007 by Will Prusik in Action, News, Xbox360
Even though all the wrinkles have been ironed out of the PS3 version of Ubisoft’s ‘Assassin’s Creed’ the only version Japan will be seeing for the moment is the Xbox 360 version. The official Ubisoft Japan website only lists an Xbox 360 version of the game to be shipping to Japan on the release date of November 29th. There hasn’t been any talk of the game being an exclusive title over there so it’s likely there’s something more going on here. The first possibility is that since the game has received the equivalent of a Mature 18+ rating it is being aimed first at the Xbox 360 demographic as the majority of similarly rated games in Japan are on the 360. Secondly there’s always the possibility that Microsoft cut Ubisoft a check to delay the Japanese release of non-Xbox versions of the game in order to try and boost sales of their console.

What wrinkles? Having played the PS3 version to completion for a review I never encountered so much as a crease. The implication of ‘a problem’ is unfounded.

If you’ll notice in the post it says that there aren’t any issues with the PS3 version. Presumably there were some last minute ones that were likely taken care of before copies of the game were sent out.
