As promised, Intel has launched its 45nm “Penryn” processors today, 16 different versions, to be precise. At the top end, the Quad Core Xeon 5400, at 3.2 GHz, 1600 MHz FSB and 12 MB of cache, is most likely the fastest stock processor in the world. It’ll set you back well over $1200. At the other end, at a mere $175, you can get the dual core 1.86 GHz, which should be quite power efficient at 45nm. Check out the full press release with a lot more details here.
