Less than a week ago the NPD announced that they would no longer be making sales data on the various consoles available to non-subscribers. Reportedly this arrangement began when the Wii and the PS3 were released and joined the ranks of the next-gen consoles alongside the Xbox 360. Bloggers and console fanboys alike were keeping a close eye on these numbers and were very upset when it was announced that they’d have to subscribe in order to keep tabs on who was outselling who. The outcry on the internet was such that the NPD has changed their mind. Having obtained the permission of Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft the NPD will continue to publish the sales numbers of the consoles.
