‘What They Play’ - New Parental Tool Launches

November 13th, 2007 by Will Prusik in News, Xbox360

With the various flaws in the video game rating system and a general disconnect between parents and their children’s preferred music/movies/video games/etc. it’s very difficult for responsible parents to monitor what their children are being exposed to. It’s easy for most children to ironically censor their parents by wearing headphones or waiting until everyone else is in the other room watching American Idol before booting up Grand Theft Auto. ‘What They Like’, a guide to entertainment for parents has created a spin-off called ‘What They Play’. The website is focused on decoding the jargon of video game ratings and really giving parents an idea of what the game actually contains. Amazon.com has also entered into an agreement wherein information from the ‘What They Play’ site will be featured alongside the regular Amazon listings for video games.
