Ultimate Mortal Kombat On the Go
November 14th, 2007 by Rajiv Ashrafi in Action, News, Nintendo DS
Midway announced that it has shipped Ultimate Mortal Kombat for the DS. The game fuses the lighting fast fighting technique found in the arcade version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 with the ‘puzzle Kombat’ found in Mortal Kombat: Deception to create one title.
As expected, the game features multiplayer modes both locally and through Nintendo’s Wi-fi Connection. It features record-keeping capability and various fighting modes. The game retails for $29.95.

Sorry to correct you on one point, but this isn’t the first Mortal Combat title on a Nintendo handheld. I’m pretty sure it was Mortal Kombat 2 that was released for the Gameboy and Gameboy Color handhelds (a very poor “light” version of the arcade and console versions IMO) back in the 90s. Not very noteworthy, so I could see how it could be overlooked. I actually owned this title and thought it was a waste of money (fortunately it wasn’t my money, it was a gift from my parents).

Thanks for that! I didn’t find any other portable MK titles, so I thought this was the first one. Edited article to reflect that.
