Samurai Warriors: KATANA Coming Jan. 2008

The most common grievance of long-time fans of the Dynasty and Samurai warriors series from Koei have is that despite new characters, cool weapons and occasional new features the games all start to run together after a while. The gameplay involves running around medieval Chinese or Japanese battlegrounds slaughtering hordes of opponents via frantic button mashing. The upcoming Samurai Warriors: KATANA for the Wii will be hitting North American stores in January of 2008 and will take the massive battles of the previous games and combine them with the motion sensing technology of the Wii to great effect. Players will swing the Wiimote to attack with swords, warhammers and other weapons.  A simple point and click will fire arrows, bullets or primitive grenades depending on your choice of ranged weapon. Riding horses, opening gates and locks will also be incorporated into the gameplay through button sequences or gesture controls. The game also features a two player versus mode where you can once and for all figure out who amongst your friends would make the best samurai.
