Battlefield 2142 Patch Fails Again

True to their history, the new BF2142 patch 1.4 didn’t do much of a difference, actually. On several forums, including the official one, users are reporting that the new “kit save feature”, doesn’t really work, and randomly selects new items every time players spawn (which I can personally confirm). It also appears that the game freezes more often than before, resulting in “lost server connection”, in addition to the usual crashes.

At this point, EA has managed to screw up the Battlefield franchise in so many ways that it’s impossible to fix. Best thing to do now is to scrap all support (it’s not like there was much support in the first place) and focus on Battlefield 3. Patch 1.4 for BF2142 certainly seems like the last one, if not for a quick fix, 1.41, same treatment BF2 got.

BF2 is still selling good, two and half years after release. EA is making a good deal of money on ranked servers and there are still thousands of players playing every day, despite all the issues. Why EA can’t get their act together and start properly supporting the game is beyond common sense at this point.
