Nvidia today launched the world’s fastest mobile graphics processor, the 8800M GTX. The high end 8800M GTX has 96 stream processors and works at 500 MHz. The GTS has only 64 stream processors, while still keeping the 500 MHz clock frequency. Both cards feature 512 MB of GDDR3 memory. The new chips are based on the 65nm process, which ensures a better power efficiency than its predecessors, despite being a lot more powerful.
Alienware seems to be the first one with a notebooks featuring the new chip, but expect a whole lot of companies to implement them over the next few weeks. And a whole lot of gamers playing Crysis on the go.
