Carmack: “WoW Driving PC Gaming”
November 23rd, 2007 by Rajiv Ashrafi in Business, News, PC
None can deny the popularity of World of Warcraft. In fact, id Software’s John Carmack, the gaming legend, has openly admitted the power of the Blizzard MMORPG, saying that the game has spurred PC gaming, while at the same time reaffirming his company’s support of the PC as a platform.
He described WoW as a “train driving all the PC sales numbers altogether on gaming.” While he admits that most players of “high-end games” play them on consoles nowadays, the PC still has a “strong enough margin”such that “[id] continue to support it.”
Carmack then went on to say that the reason PC gaming has lost popularity is because of well implemented console features like Xbox Live and other PC-like options.

Consoles are more popular just because of the simple fact that its cheaper, £300ish xbox 360, to get that kind of power on a pc requires twice as much money.
WoW is not driving gaming, it is not even a good game, it’s taking advantage of people’s weakness for the need of power, not to mention addiction.
