g08681ehmb8.jpgRussian company 1C Company have announced that it has acquired Akella’s “Sea Dog” in-house development studio which is responsible for various pirate-themed titles such as Age of Pirates and the game-movie tie-in Pirates of the Caribbean. It is currently working on Age of Pirates: Captain Blood for PC and Xbox 360.

According to the announcement, once the game is complete, the studio will begin work on “a wide range of innovative titles for multiple game platforms,” though they refused to state anymore details. Akella won’t be pirate-less either, as it will shift development duties of such games to another of its studios; an announcement is expected soon.

1C Company has recently expanded its operations, with a new distribution deal with Atari as well as Cenega Publishing.
