Medal Of Honor Franchise ‘In Trouble’

This opinion comes from a rather biased source. Gearbox Software, the makers of ‘Brothers In Arms’, has critiqued one of the other biggest World War II franchises. Their president, Randy Pitchford cites the upgradeable weapons and other features as not indicative of a true WWII simulating experience. With the lack of critical success for the Medal of Honor series since Allied Assault, the opinion of those at Gearbox is that someone in the EA offices needs to put someone more dedicated to the authenticity of the franchise at the helm.
I say what they need to do is stop producing endless amounts of WWII simulation shooters. The genre has been done to death and rarely delivers an actual authentic experience. I’ve never seen a level where your character huddles in a trench in the middle of winter, attempting to stave off frostbite and trenchfoot and praying the last few rounds of ammunition they have will be enough to ward off any German advances. We need to see something new in the gaming world. As the fine gentlemen at Penny Arcade said: “It’s official. Omaha Beach is the new Hoth”.

…OR, stop making medal of honour. As a guy said on the escapist magazine, ‘the games have been going on longer than the actual war’.
