European gamers will be getting a censored goreless version of No More Heroes when the game is released in that territory early next year. This is the same version of the game that’ll be shipping to Japan. While North American customers will still have the over-the-top fountains of blood and flashy dismemberments the censored version will simply feature sprays of generic black splatter. This announcement is contrary to the original plan that the game would equal or surpass Manhunt 2 in its level of violence. However since Manhunt 2 was banned in the UK for its graphic violent content the publisher- Rising Star Games- has decided to take the safe route and avoid possible hangups in getting the game on the shelves in Europe. Given that the game is a little more over the top and fantastic in its depictions of violence with fountains of blood similar to those in the ‘Kill Bill’ films it’s questionable whether the slightly ridiculous nature of the game would have gotten it banned when compared to the more visceral and realistic depictions of violence in Manhunt 2.
