Merriam-Webster Announces Word Of The Year

December 12th, 2007 Posted in Business, News, Offbeat, PC

Yes I know many of you are wondering if I’m out of my mind. It’s a valid question, when you considering the fact that Merriam-Webster are best known for publishing dictionaries. However this year in their hunt for the official ‘word of the year‘ they’ve come up with one that although not officially in the dictionary yet is still widely in use. Ladies and gentlemen, the word of 2007 is ‘w00t’. Since new words are added to the dictionary every year and even ridiculous words such as ‘jiggy’ (yes, as in get jiggy with it) make it into the official compilation of the English language, phrases of l33t might not be too far off.
