Nielsen Game Stats From April-November

Despite the upswing in popularity of the PS3 since the price cut, Wiis selling out as fast as they get onto the shelves and the Xbox 360 having been around longer than either of the other ‘next-gen’ systems, previous-gen systems are still  when it comes to what people are playing the most. The PS2 claimed the top console spot by far with 42.2% of total console minutes tracked. The original Xbox was a distant second with 13.9% and its younger brother came in a close third at 11.8%. Surprisingly the Gamecube (7.1%) is still beating out both the Wii (5.5%)  and the PS3 (2.5%).

World of Warcraft is still the top played PC game, which shouldn’t be a shock to anyone. The PC list is populated with mostly FPS and MMO games. Both of The Sims games are on the list along with Madden NFL ‘07 as the ‘odd man out’. The unexpected underdog of the list is RuneScape, a free MMO at the number #3 spot.
