NPD: Nintendo Tops Charts Before Christmas

After a Thanksgiving and Black Friday filled month, sales in the US surely would climb, and climb they have. We are all fairly used to the order of things, but Nintendo’s two consoles hovered at the 1 million and 1.5 million marks respectively. We like to call that a respectable effort and can only wonder what the Wii would be capable if it wasn’t still supply constrained. Meanwhile the 360 takes a very close third, benefitting from having stock, it’s been keeping close to the Wii since Halo’s release. Meanwhile the Playstation family may have been all in the bottom rungs, but all sold very well, unfortunately though combined still doesn’t take down the DS.
Playstation 3’s sales nearly tripled this month, which may very well be a start of a great new trend into 2008. It’s still anyone’s game… unless you include the Nintendo DS, then it’s just no contest. If only to be a Nintendo employee, I expect many smiling faces and fat bonus checks.
