PSP Outsells Wii in Japan

Proving that the video game market is volatile and always unpredictable, the PSP has from the previous week in Japan. Last week the handheld sold over 184,000 units, beating the Wii which sold just barely over 170,000. This is a bit unexpected as the only PSP game that made the Japanese sales charts was ‘Hot Shots Portable Golf 2′ which was #19 on the charts. This isn’t to say that the Wii’s sales are suffering at all. The console’s sales shot up more than 50,000 units from the previous week. It’s too early to tell if this is a fluke or if this means the PSP is grabbing a handhold in its quest to topple the Nintendo DS as the top dog of handhelds.
