Indian Company to Buy SOE?

The Economic Times is reporting that Indian games company Zapak is all set to buy out Sony Online Entertainment for $300 million. According to their source, the deal is set to be finalized within the coming few days.

“The deal is almost through. It is in the final stages of negotiations and by next week, Zapak will have a full right to all content, owned and published by Sony Online,” sources told SundayET.

Zapak is reported to enter the gaming space in China next year, and the acquisition of SOE would help them expand in that field. Distressingly, the company aims to reduce the cost of publishing future games by buying out studios like SOE and relocating them to India. “This will reduce the cost drastically from $30 mn to $10mn, which will give us the advantage to channelise our funds towards marketing and other activities,” the official said.

Sony is yet to confirm or deny the report.
