PS3 owners are soon going to get some love (no pun intended) from formerly HD-DVD exclusive porn company Digital Playground. Joone, the founder of the company, has gone on record to say that the PS3 has convinced them to release their films on Blu-ray as well, starting with the blockbuster hit Pirates.
“A lot of people were e-mailing that bought a PlayStation 3,” he said. “They were basically saying, ‘When are you guys going to release Blu-ray?’”
This is quite interesting, as he had previously stated that Sony was blocking the path to release adult films on Blu-ray. He was wrong of course, as it later turned out that they weren’t releasing films for the medium because the price of producing Blu-ray movies is much higher than that of HD-DVD. Finally, the most interesting bit is that the PS3 itself caused the company to change its stance, which may be marked as a victory for the Blu-ray camp, whatever way you see it.
