Smallville Star Chosen as Chun-Li

December 23rd, 2007 Posted in Action, News

In a bit of revelation that can be termed ’shocking’, ComingSoon reports that Kristin Kreuk (Smallville) has been cast to play Chun-Li in the upcoming Street Fighter movie. Dubbed Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li, the movie is set to begin shooting in March 2008 and is being directed by Andrzej Bartkowski.

What shocks me is that she is not even remotely Chinese! I wonder how they made their casting choice.

I think she is part Chinese…

Some of these casting directors only see what they want to see. Isn’t Chun Li Asian? I hate to be a kill joy but what happened to all of the female Asian talent out there?? I can see Michelle Yeoh playing this role or even Zhang Zhi, just to name a couple out of the many asian female actress. But c’mon, Kristin Kreuk??? Is this going to be another one of those watered-down action movies that do the original video game no justice like Mortal Kombat 2??

Seriously, this movie better not suck. I’ll be mad if it does, write a letter or something.

She is half-chinese half-dutch, so.. she is beyond remotely chinese. She has martial art experience and has done martial arts on camera multiple times for her role on smallville. She will do a good job.
