Edifier’s Rainbow wireless audio accessory for speakers embeds Infra-Com’s Diffused Infrared technology termed IrGate. IrGate is implemented as a set of semiconductor chipsets with matching small electro-optical devices (LEDs and Sensors) for a fully non-line-of-sight and non-directional wireless optical sensation. It works like RF within an enclosure but does not suffer from RF based interefrences. Nor does it emit any RF signals. The technology is worldwide unregulated (similar to the infrared remote control), is green (no RF polution) and works very cool within a room, living room, etc. for a complete wireless audio expereince. I have one system from Edifier and it wroks just great - I was able to connect my passive rear speakers to variosu audio source devices thrwoing away the annoying wires.
