A sign of things to come? Sony’s CES page for the PSP features the following tidbit: “Call friends, talk trash to fellow gamers or catch up with acquaintances via Skype for PSP system.”

The fabled PlayStation Phone? Not quite. Skype is a VoIP service that allows its users to make free PC-to-PC phone calls as well as cheap PC-telephone calls with decent quality. Unfortunately, it doesn’t run on cellular networks and will most probably require a working Wi-fi connection (PSP users get free T-Mobile Wi-fi access) to make calls. So, don’t replace your phones yet.
