Denied: Metal Gear Solid 4 On Xbox 360

January 4th, 2008 Posted in News, Online, Rumor, Xbox 360 by Brian Lockhart

After running a story a few days ago, in which we said Metal Gear Solid 4 could be expected for release within 12-14 months following the PS3 version, Konami has sent out a general response stomping on those rumors.

Konami rep: For the record, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and there are no plans to develop an Xbox 360 version of the game.

It’s the same old story out of Konami, not that I can say I blame them. Even if the constant rumors circulating were true, Sony would want them to remain tight lipped about it, in hopes of moving some consoles. If the 360 eventually gets the software a year down the line it wouldn’t have too negative of an effect. However, if we all knew it was coming, that may change a few buying decisions. Frankly, MGS4 is an expensive title, and even if plans don’t exist, I wouldn’t be surprised if Konami was forced to port to 360 in the future just to recoup costs. It all comes straight down to its performance, and perhaps how much money Microsoft decides to jingle in their face.
