GeForce 9800 GX2 Details Unveiled
January 4th, 2008 by James Hyde in Gear, Hardware, News, PC, Technology
Nvidia’s upcoming 9800 GX 2 graphics card is a few months away from official announcement, but the first details and pictures have already leaked. As you can see above, it’s one massive card, sporting two 8800 GT chips on one board, 1 GB memory, and 256 stream processors. The source claims that the card will be at least 30% faster the the current fastest graphics card available, the 8800 Ultra. It sure looks possible, if Nvidia can provide decent drivers for it.

Well this is stupid, only crysis would be able to use this. And now developers will need to spend even more time and money upping the graphics, graphics cards are fine as it is, they should stop the 6 month law (of bringing a new series of gfx card out) and change it to a year or year and a half. The games companies are getting screwed over by this technology. i’m still on a 7600gt and that works many games up until a year or 2 ago on max settings and all games except crysis on high or medium. No point getting this new one at all. i will change for the 8800gt once the prices go down to what we were told they’d be sold at, ie £140ish.

I’ve seen a top notch rig (3×8800GTX) struggle with Crysis at 1980×1200 all on high… I think Crysis will be pushing the 9800 GX2, even in Quad SLI, especially in DX10.

You’ve seen a top notch pc struggle?
What is top notch to you, cause I have everything maxed with one 8800 gtx and it runs at 40fps.
Please stop spreading propaganda, with very little information.

Depends on your resolution, I have a 24″ 1920×1200, a preferred resolution
And you’re probably running in DX9…
Anyways, some Germans tested Crysis in triple-sli, http://www.pcgameshardware.de/?article_id=624620
“We managed to get 150% more Fps with the triple setup compared to the single card (screenshot enclosed). We were able to play Crysis in 1920×1200 (no FSSA/AF) in DX10 Very High with 37,9 Fps average and 14 Fps Minimun in “Paradise Lost”.”

the persue of advanced graphical technology is the dream of all enthusias. i m very gratefull for their efforts to push the boundary of graphical tech limit. so the end users can only be worried by problems like how 2 choose n wen 2 choose on the price n performance scale basis.
