Bill’s Big Announcement, ABC And MGM On 360

Actually it’s a little bit hard to say exactly what his big announcement was, as there were a few smaller ones rather than a big whole. But seeing as this was the one thing we weren’t already aware of via Microsoft speeches in the past, this is the one that counts. Microsoft will be teaming with ABC and MGM to bring more HD content directly to the 360 in the near future. Consider this a very worthwhile alternative to the predicted announcement of an HD DVD drive built in. Especially with so many companies on board Blu-ray, Disney included, their joining the 360 opens up a huge wealth of content. All of the Disney owned TV channels (ABC, Teletoon, Family Channel etc.) will be adding some of the more than 500 hours of content promised.
Meanwhile heavy hitter MGM will bring with it a wealth of movies to add to the somewhat stark collection available currently on the 360. The only thing missing seems to be Pixar and Disney itself, whom certainly combined would have made the announcement somewhat more exciting. Having Disney on board may go a long way towards appeasing that elusive family crowd.
Pricing and launch dates were naturally not mentioned, so we’ll be twiddling our thumbs until then.
