The Call of Duty franchise is riding a huge wave of success, all CoD titles released have had massive success, selling millions of copies, the latest, Call of Duty 4, is no exception. But what’s going to happen from now on? Will the franchise stay in the modern era, or go back to WW2?Call of Duty 5 is developed by Treyarch, which is no surprise as Infinity Ward did the previous game (they switch developing CoD games).
Developer Treyarch made Call of Duty 3, by far the best WW2 shooter you can get today, and according to EGM, CoD 5 will go back to WW2. Nothing is confirmed at this point, but at least we know that they’re working on Call of Duty 5. Doh!

1Dear god, when are people going to STOP making WWII games? It’s been done to death. Find a new period in history to make endless repetitive games out of. Or maybe a game where you play a soldier on the russian front? There’d be some co-op potential there: when your friend gets shot, press A to pick up his rifle and keep shooting. Remember though, if you try to retreat and regroup, your commanding officers will mow you down with a machine gun.

2i would prefer a ww2 witha different perspective, ie Germans or Russians, the American view has been overdone, the British not so much but still its obivous what to expect.

5Ewokstruck, that would be called Call of Duty original. Yes, there was a russian campaign, and yes, if you retreated you would die.
They say it will be in the Pacific, and we have yet to see Call of Duty do the Japanese yet. Might be interesting, give it a chance before you slam it!

6T, first of all it’s ‘ewoksrock’. Secondly, Call of Duty hasn’t done the Pacific front yet, but other games have. I’ve played a bunch of them, so I’m not ragging on something I’ve never done before, but there’s only so much innovation you can have when you’re dealing with real-world scenarios, history and technology. It’s like going to a restaurant that specializes in hamburgers. Sure, they might doctor it up a dozen ways but eventually you’re just going to be sick of hamburgers in generally and looking for something new and exciting. The gameplay is well done but I’m looking for something more fantastic. You should be thankful nobody’s made a truly ‘realistic’ world war II game yet. You’d spend hours sitting in a trench, shivering from the cold, playing mini-games to ward off trench foot and hoping the germans don’t advance because you’ve only got ten rounds left.

7Where can I find Call of Duty 3 for PC? I’ve looked all over and can’t find one. Good CoD would one for the Pacific Theater..although CoD WW2 beats the heck out of Turock Avenges the Death Ray…I’m sick of seeing those.
