Extending the reach of amBX technology, Philips today announced an alliance with Ubisoft, one of the world’s biggest publishers, to enable the technology in its upcoming blockbuster games Brothers in Arms Hell’s Highway and Far Cry 2, both due for release later this year. The agreement also sees a patch for the original Far Cry that will enable amBX; further patches for other Ubisoft games will also be released.
Demonstrations of amBX-enabled versions of either games are now being shown off at the Philips stand at CES.
amBX uses a combination of lighting, rumble and other environmental devices to bring the world of the game to life to the player. Quite a few developers and publishers support the platform.
