While most of the extremely influential FPS games were initially found on computers, one of the most classic and still talked about titles to this day is Goldeneye 007 for the Nintendo 64. Boasting a slew of unlockable gameplay modes, characters and levels as well as a four-person deathmatch, this game captured the hearts and thumbs of gamers for countless hours. The shadowy ‘reliable sources’ that always lurk unseen in the background of the gaming industry have brought to light a delicious tidbit of information. Reportedly the classic FPS game will be revamped with improved graphics, Xbox live functionality and will be re-released on Xbox Live Arcade.
This is far from being confirmed as Microsoft is of course following their policy of not commenting. Nintendo also reportedly would like to have the game added to the Wii’s virtual console store. Considering that Microsoft owns Rare (the company that developed Goldeneye) it’s likely that the game will end up in Microsoft’s corner, especially considering that other Rare games have been remade and released on Xbox Live Arcade.

1It’s one thing to talk about it, but just imagine for a brief moment if this did come to fruition… yea, that’d be something.
